Fuoriluogo (Misplaced) – Show Valente Taddei – Viareggio (LU) – from January 23 to 27 Feb. 2010
Born in Viareggio in 1964, graduated at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, T has a large curriculum fair, personal and group shows both in Italy and abroad (Germany, Romania and Switzerland). He has collaborated on several occasions with the publisher Einaudi has created designs for the magazine See: and for the website in 2008 www.einaudi.it illustrated with 10 tables, the essay “Pandora, the first woman” by Jean-Pierre Vernant , one of the greatest scholars of myth and Greek culture, which appeared in the series ‘Archipelago’. In the gallery viareggina directed by Gianni Costa – with which the artist’s works are present at all times – is exposed to a series of recent oil paintings and ink on canvas and paper works from the narrative and minimalist, with an unmistakable ‘ little man ‘, always the protagonist in the creation of T, is used in situations perpetually poised between irony and paradox. The backgrounds, mostly monochromatic, full of nuances, they create a setting in which the boundaries of time and space are lost, transforming the character of T in a sort of icon of human frailty, suspended between dream and the unconscious.
So observes the critic Cristina Olivieri – in relation to the suite of works by this staff – introduction of the catalog accompanying the exhibition: “Out of Time, into space, a tiny individual leads his life, who was abducted from the intricacies of life , in the role of unlikely hero, as his strength and his weakness at the same time allow him to proceed. Taddei portrays the man and his childish attempts at portraying him in the world of the absurd, but trying to defuse an inevitable destiny. The man is the protagonist of the great stage of life. Yet, with his works, the artist seems to want to restore the proper limits within which man himself can not move, humble speck of a universe that could live comfortably without his presence. ”
The exhibition, organized in collaboration with Fondazione Carnival and Cultural Department of the Municipality of Viareggio, is open Tuesday through Saturday, in time 17:00 to 19:30.
