The President of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Livorno Luciano Barsotti and the chairman of Gruppo Labronico Sira Borgiotti are pleased to invite you to the presentation of the book “Charles Doudelet – Pittore Incisore e Critico d’Arte. Dal “Leonardo” a “L’Eroica” (Charles Doudelet – Painter Engraver and art critic. From the “Leonardo “to” Eroica”) by Francesca Cagianelli (Leo S. Oleschi Editore, 2009).
The artist, recognized worldwide as the finest interpreter of the lyric of Maeterlinck (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1911), is binding as a cultural bridge between Italy and Belgium and its Belgian government has mandated by the opportunity to address specialized studies and implement major projects in the course of his residences in Livorno, Florence and Rome.
Protagonist, the ranks of the Group of Twenty in numerous editions of the Salon in Brussels, alongside Théo van Rysselberghe, Toorop, Van de Velde, Ensor and Khnopff, Doudelet is among the foremost artists of Nordic, which, thanks to its versatile activities , extends in Italy and particularly in Livorno and Florence.
