Carlo Guarnieri Woodcuts – Castagneto Carducci (LI) – Dec. 23, 2009 to Jan. 10, 2010
The expressive power of the incision, and the modern revival in the work of Carlo Guarnieri, Tuscan master of the twentieth century, in the retrospective exhibition staged at Castagneto Carducci (LI), at the Galleria Sergio Balducci subsidiary Athena Art Space (Suvereto), having the woodblock plates, in the period 1905 to 1928. Organized by Sergio Balducci, the staff discovers the look and feel Maremma’s production, also known as a painter, whose work of woodcuts, marks more modernity, the essential composition and great tension inside, after ‘ incisive cutting psychological portrait, and the mystical and spiritual symbolism of his most visionary. A native of Campiglia Marittima (LI) in 1892, a pupil of De Carolis Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, and Egisto Ciappacasse in his youth was a member of the first group for the revival of wood engraving, the technique of engraving on wood, Ancient Japanese origin. Said the painter, as well as graphic from exhibitions in Florence, Venice (XI International Art Exhibition in 1914), the first two Biennale Romana and later in the ’20s, after staying for a few years in the city of Turin, and subsequently in Rome and returned at the end of World War II, in Tuscany, the villa in the rural town of Campiglia, where he will reside for life. The exhibition at the gallery in Via Marconi 28, opened December 23, 2009, will remain open to the public for free admission until 10 January 2010, during the hours: weekdays from 15.30 to 19.00, before holidays and public holidays 10.00 – 12,00 / 15,30 – 19,00
