It’s called All the souls of the mummy. Life after death to the time of Sety I and the exhibition of funerary art wanted by the Archaeological Museum of Bologna and Chianciano Terme, in collaboration with the Egyptian Museum in Florence and Banca Monte Paschi di Siena.
From 20 June 2009 to January 6, 2010 at the Museo Civico Archeologico di Chianciano Terme (Siena) in fact you can admire statues, terracotta vases, furniture or valuable household, amulets and scarabs, paintings and reliefs Ramesside age. Hundreds of items from major collections of Egyptian Italy and the partial reconstruction of one of the greatest Pharaonic tombs of the Valley of the Kings are the beating heart of the exhibition “All the souls of the mummy. Life after death to the time of Sety I “, organized by the Archaeological Museum of Chianciano Terme and the Archaeological Museum of Bologna in collaboration with the Egyptian Museum in Florence and the Vatican Museums with the contribution of Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena via Paint Projects cultural.
The purpose of the exhibition, which opens to the public from 20 June 2009 to January 6, 2010 at the Museo Civico Archeologico di Chianciano Terme (Siena), is to illustrate the funerary ritual Egyptian Ramesside age, comparing the unique context of burial Pharaoh Sety I (New Kingdom: Dynasty XIX, 1290-1279 BC), from which comes forty statuettes and a major meeting for the first time in Chianciano Terme, a perfect funeral to be private from the same period. In addition to the body and the mummy, fine exhibits on display tell, as a ‘disembodied’ form the person, and that is how many “souls” of an Egyptian, to be protected carefully in his grave because the deceased has an eternal life after death.
