Giorgio de Chirico ’s dream metaphysical – graphic works, 1941 – 1976 – Florence – 12th November 2009 to January 30, 2010

At the opening of the new headquarters of Florence, Viale Matteotti 60, Shenker Culture Club with the sponsorship of the City of Florence, is pleased to offer the city the exhibition Giorgio de Chirico, the metaphysical dream, graphic works from 1941 to 1976.
The exhibition will be inaugurated Thursday, November 12th, 2009 at 18.30.
Giorgio de Chirico and the Italian artist of the twentieth century’s most influential and well known in the world, which has a special relationship with Florence. And ‘the city, in fact, where a century ago he painted his first metaphysical paintings, Enigma of an autumn afternoon, following the famous “revelation” that he had one afternoon in 1909, contemplating the Piazza Santa Croce. Since then, the artist stayed several times at Florence, reaching even to call themselves “Georgius de Chirico Florentinus.
Works
The exhibition features 30 works fine graphics, color and black and white (lithographs, etchings, drawings and etchings), which cover a wide span of time from 1941 to 1976 and often anticipate subsequent masterpieces of painting, in a kind of “proof General “of his art major. Graphic works on display show almost all of the issues addressed by Giorgio de Chirico and allow to grasp the meaning and feelings that nourish the art of “Pictor Optimus”, true inspiration for many of the historical avant-gardes of the twentieth century, from surrealism to Dada, to metaphysics.
The rare and valuable papers were subject to the piazzas of Italy, the Metaphysical Landscape, the Baths mysterious, the mannequins, the Muses disturbing, the combat of gladiators, horses, classical mythology, covering the entire course of philosophy and art of the Great metaphysical.
Among the works on display include: Orestes and Pylades, The Masks, The Evacuation, archaeologists, Zeus, the fountain of mystery, Dancers, Piazza of Italy with adolescent, The Vestal Virgins, Self-portrait in costume, Hector and Andromache, The Muse disturbing metaphysical interiors, Il Trovatore’s room mystery, Horses Perseus, Faun asleep.
The works are from the collection of Brasilia Pellegrinelli, specialized for many years in the graphic Giorgio de Chirico.
