The Award International Biennial of Engraving – City of Monsummano Terme “has taken the first steps on its tenth anniversary in the year 1999 and is now in the field of intaglio national important opportunity for discussion and stimulate the exchange of expressions art among the students of the Academies of Fine Arts Italian and foreign, in fact, picking the best contemporary graphic production both nationally and internationally.

Two hundred participating artists, coming from twenty-four Italian Academies of Fine Arts and California State University at Long Beach (USA), seventy-four of the six artists selected and reported between the winner who will have their works on display until March prossimo7 in prestigious seat of the Museum of Contemporary Art and the twentieth century with the publication of a catalog published by Pacini Editore of Pisa and the Municipality of Monsummano Terme.

Also this edition has been enriched, at the invitation of the International Committee of the Award, with the exposure of a master Italian etcher and engraver of a master abroad.
Italy will be represented by the works of Giorgio Morandi, an avid supporter of art lived according to the rules provided by the tradition of the ancient Latin the works of Andy Warhol that goes away, at least apparently, to everything that the past has taught beginning their artistic techniques.
Two great masters who create a confrontation, perhaps a clash of strong visual impact, evident by their different nature and training.
Born in different centuries: the first gets the mid-twentieth century with the definitive historical analysis of his style and taste, the second began in 1957 to show the first examples of pop art and works almost convulsively repeated by means of setting a photomechanical reproduction new language that arises and is identified with the American world.

The event is organized by the Mac, n – Museum of Contemporary Art and the twentieth century under the patronage of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture, Tuscany Region, Provincial Administration of Pistoia, Montecatini Terme Tourism Promotion Agency Valdinievole, and the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pistoia and Pescia.
